The Burn – Rewrite – Reread tag!!

Hey guys!

I’m so super psyched that I was tagged for the Burn, Rewrite, Reread Tag! A huge thank you to Meghan at Meghan’s Whimsical Explorations & Reviews for tagging me! Her blog is amazing and you should definitely go check it out.

Rules:

  • Randomly choose 3 books (Tip: Use the “Sort > Random” option on your Goodreads’ Read shelf.).
  • For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread (a lot like Kiss, Marry, Kill).
  • Repeat until you completed three rounds (or six)

Round 01

rye_catcherBurn: Holy crap, this challenge is already way too hard for me to handle! Sigh. I’m going to have to pick The Catcher in the Rye on this one. My bookish heart is already breaking and I only just started. As much as I love this book, I love the other two also, and one of them has to go. I am so, so sad.

61uyqm9s3mlRewrite: I think I’m going to go with Fight Club here. I would have loved to know more about Tyler and maybe even read a story narrated by him. He’s excellent and crazy in every way.

bravenewworld-covfinReread: I would love to reread Brave New World because I adore the heck out of it. I loved Huxley’s take on mass consumerism and behavioural conditioning in this book. This one is absolutely wonderful, true, and necessary. I would honestly marry it if I could.

Round 02

georgeorwellxobeygiantprintset-1984coverbyshepardfaireyBurn: I pick 1984 by George Orwell for this one. The irony of burning this book is astounding, given Orwell’s famous depiction of government censorship. This round was almost so close that I thought of flipping a coin to decide which books should be in each category.

In-Cold-Blood (1)Rewrite: I would love a rewrite of In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. This book was great, but it scared the sh*t out of me. Capote was an amazing writer, but can we tone the terror down a notch?

51ucxOBOFKL._SL1500_Reread: I basically have to pick The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. It was a really great book and I love historical fiction. I adored the change in perspectives. This book was amazing.

Round 03

51THwNtXbHL._SL1500_Burn: Sigh. I did really enjoy this one, but all of them are so amazing and I have to pick one. Okay, fine, I pick The Only Ones by Carola Dibbell.

jekyllbookcoverRewrite: For this category, I pick The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. It’s a classic, I know! The only part of this book that I would change is the length. I wish it was longer and more in depth.

61r22qbewxl-_sx347_bo1204203200_Reread: I would love to reread Maus Pt II by Art Spiegelman. I love this series, and this book is fantastic. I would absolutely read it again!

This was tag was super fun, and I’m really glad that I got the chance to do it. And now I get to pick other people to join the insanity. *maniacal laughter*

  1. Oh my goodness- round one would’ve been impossible for me- even though I’ve only read Brave new world and catcher in the rye. There’s no way I could burn 1984- in any circumstances!! I’m glad Maus is reread though, cos I recently got hold of a copy and am looking forward to reading it 🙂 great post!!

  2. Love this tag! It’s definitely tough to choose certain books for certain categories… But what would be the fun otherwise? 🙂
I liked your choices, even though I haven’t read them yet. It’s nice to see diverse genres once in a while!
